Research Questions and Interviewees
In my research project, I will be interviewing an emergency room nurse, a ropes course worker, a butcher shop worker, and a trial lawyer to find how each handled the changes caused by the pandemic.
EMERGENCY ROOM NURSE:
Working Research Question: I want to find out if the number of people coming into the emergency room increased or decreased and what the cases were like.
Who? Emergency room nurse
What? Covid-19 first wave
When? During quarantine/ spike of covid
Where? Emergency rooms
Why? To have a better understanding of what nurses had to go through during quarantine.
Revised Research Question: Did you have many patients who came in for emergencies not related to covid, or was it mainly covid related cases? Did the number of patients with non covid issues decrease?
ROPES COURSE GUIDE:
Working Research Question: I want to learn about how it was to work a job where it is very near impossible to remain socially distant
Who? A ropes course guide
What? Working while Covid cases were still high
When? Summer of 2020
Where? Ropes Course/Adventure Course
Why? In a place where it is hard to remain socially distant, how did you work around the struggles? How were the customers’ reactions?
Revised Research Question: Were the interactions with customers easier or more difficult compared to what it was like before covid?
BUTCHER SHOP WORKER:
Working Research Question: I want to know how much more difficult it was compared to before covid, and if many things changed.
Who? Butcher shop worker
What? Working at a Deli during covid
When? Summer of 2020
Where? Butcher Shop in New York
Why? It is important to hear the different stories and experiences of workers during the pandemic.
Revised Research Question: Were there many changes to the regulations and were they hard to get used to?
TRIAL LAWYER:
Working Research Question: I want to know if the transition from a courtroom to a virtual trial is easier or harder, and whether it was beneficial to the lawyers and their clients.
Who? A defense attorney
What? Virtual Trials
When? Covid pandemic
Where? New Jersey
Why? To see whether the change is beneficial to lawyers and their clients
Revised Research Question: Do you believe that virtual trials and virtual meetings with clients will continue even after the threat of covid-19 has passed? Do you think it is more beneficial if it does continue?
