In my research project, I will be interviewing an emergency room nurse, a ropes course worker, a butcher shop worker, and a trial lawyer to find how each handled the changes caused by the pandemic.

EMERGENCY ROOM NURSE:

Working Research Question: I want to find out if the number of people coming into the emergency room increased or decreased and what the cases were like.

Who? Emergency room nurse

What? Covid-19 first wave

When? During quarantine/ spike of covid

Where? Emergency rooms

Why? To have a better understanding of what nurses had to go through during quarantine.

Revised Research Question: Did you have many patients who came in for emergencies not related to covid, or was it mainly covid related cases? Did the number of patients with non covid issues decrease?

ROPES COURSE GUIDE:

Working Research Question: I want to learn about how it was to work a job where it is very near impossible to remain socially distant

Who? A ropes course guide

What? Working while Covid cases were still high

When? Summer of 2020

Where? Ropes Course/Adventure Course

Why? In a place where it is hard to remain socially distant, how did you work around the struggles? How were the customers’ reactions?

Revised Research Question: Were the interactions with customers easier or more difficult compared to what it was like before covid?

BUTCHER SHOP WORKER:

Working Research Question: I want to know how much more difficult it was compared to before covid, and if many things changed.

Who? Butcher shop worker

What? Working at a Deli during covid

When? Summer of 2020

Where? Butcher Shop in New York

Why? It is important to hear the different stories and experiences of workers during the pandemic.

Revised Research Question: Were there many changes to the regulations and were they hard to get used to?

TRIAL LAWYER:

Working Research Question: I want to know if the transition from a courtroom to a virtual trial is easier or harder, and whether it was beneficial to the lawyers and their clients.

Who? A defense attorney

What? Virtual Trials

When? Covid pandemic

Where? New Jersey

Why? To see whether the change is beneficial to lawyers and their clients

Revised Research Question: Do you believe that virtual trials and virtual meetings with clients will continue even after the threat of covid-19 has passed? Do you think it is more beneficial if it does continue?
